Been awhile since I wrote a blog for this site. Oh, I've been fiddling around with it here and there as time permits, but the life of a married man with children is rarely a boring one. There's always stuff that needs to be done...scratch that...there's always stuff my wife thinks I need to do. She's right of course, there always IS stuff I need to do and I'm nothing if not the King of Procrastination, but I'll tell you about that later.
So what's up with all this? My wife has temporarily flown the proverbial coop! Oh, not for good but just long enough to visit some relatives for their annual family reunion. It's within comfortable driving and we've done many times in the past. I don't think I've missed more than one or two of them over the past 16 years but I'm not going this year.
Our kids are both enrolled in an art class and these are the last few weeks of that. Normally not that big of a deal, however they really are enjoying the class and since it cost frigging $350 (they BETTER enjoy it), it seemed a shame for them not to be able to go to every class. Also, this is my younger son's last year in Elementary School and this weekend is their annual FunFair. They both expressed an interest in going (even though it mostly consists of a pretty craptacular blow-up bouncy rides and a pony ride...whoopie). So between these two events, we decided that my wife would go to the reunion and I would stay home and ferry the kids around to their various activities. So my wife is really the one getting out of the house, away from the kids, spending time with other grown-ups...hmmm. Maybe next year I'LL go to my wife's family reunion and she can stay home with the kids.
